What’s Up With Up?
 
Lovers of the English language might enjoy this. It is yet another example of why people learning English have trouble with the language. Learning the nuances of English makes it a difficult language. (But then, that’s probably true of many languages.)   
 
There is a two-letter word in English that perhaps has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that word is’UP.’ It is listed in the dictionary as being used as an [adv], [prep], [adj], [n] or [v].
 
It’s easy to understand UP, meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP? 
 
At a meeting, why does a topic come UP ? Why do we speak UP, and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report? We call UP our friends and we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver, we warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. We lock UP the house and some guys fix UP the old car. 
 
At other times the little word has a real special meaning. People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses. 
 
To be dressed is one thing but to be dressed UP is special.
 
And this up is confusing: 
 
A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP.
 
We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night.  We seem to be pretty mixed UPabout UP ! 
 
To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of UP , look the word UP in the dictionary. In a desk-sized dictionary, it takesUP almost 1/4 of the page and can add UP to about thirty definitions 
 
If you are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don’t give UP, you may wind UP with a hundred or more. 
 
When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP . When the sun comes out we say it is clearing UP. When it rains, it wets UP the earth. When it does not rain for awhile, things dry UP. 
 
One could go on & on, but I’ll wrap it UP , for now. My time is UP. 
 
Oh…one more thing:

Obama’s New Slave Army, Your Kids!

Rep. Rahm Emanuel of Illinois, President-Elect Barack Obama’s choice for chief of staff in his incoming administration, is co-author of a book, The Plan: Big Ideas for America, that calls for, among other things, compulsory service for all Americans ages 18 to 25. The following excerpt is from pages 61-62 of the 2006 book:

“It’s time for a real Patriot Act that brings out the patriot in all of us. We propose universal civilian service for every young American. Under this plan, All Americans between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five will be asked to serve their country by going through three months of basic training, civil defense preparation and community service. …”

This sounds kind of familiar to me. Where did I ever see something like this before, I can’t quite place my finger on it, hummmm……Oh Yeah, That’s right, Does the Hitler Youth ring a bell!

This modern day Joseph Goebbels also goes on to warn in his book that, “Some Republicans will squeal about individual freedom,” ruling out any likelihood that they would let people opt out of universal citizen service.

Wait, why would the Republicans squeal about individual freedom? I thought that the democrats were the party of freedom of choice, isn’t that what the media has been driving into our heads all this time? what! You mean the Democrats are the ones that control the media and the educational system in this country? You have got to be kidding me!

Do you mean we have been lied to all this time and it’s actually the republicans that believe in an individuals right to take control of his own life and freedom of choice?

Way to to go you Obama Kool-Aid drinkers! I can’t wait until they get a hold of your kids and start to indoctrinate them, then the day will come when you are afraid to criticize the government in your own home for fear your kids will turn you in to the new Gestapo!

Obama’s Sweet Auntie Zeituni Missing?

It seems Obama’s sweet auntie Zeituni is missing? Caught up in a controversy over her immigration status, Barack Obama’s aunt hasn’t been seen at the South Boston housing project where she lives for days, neighbors say.

Two women who know Onyango and live in the same housing complex off West Broadway said they hadn’t seen Onyango in four days - about the time it was revealed that she was living in the United States illegally.

When asked how she felt having the president-elect’s aunt living next door, one neighbor, Sasha, who voted for Obama yesterday, replied: “I think it’s cool.”

“She has a lot of knowledge,” she said.

Yeah, That’s right, she does have a lot of knowledge, and so there you have your answer to why Obama’ sweet auntie Zeituni has went missing, SHE HAS KNOWLEDGE!

Could some of that knowledge contain information on Obama’s real birthplace? I’m sure we won’t be hearing from sweet auntie Zeituni anytime soon. At-least not until she has been properly debriefed.
