Is John McCain a Liar?

Is John McCain a liar? We all know the stories about how John McCain was tortured and mistreated while a prisoner during the Vietnam War, but according to the former head prison guard of the camp where John McCain was held captive, those stories are just not true.
Of course I’m not saying that it was easy to be a prisoner during the Vietnam War, but I do think it is wrong to exaggerate such stories for political gain or sympathy.
In an interview with the Italian daily Corriere della Sera, Nguyen Tien Tran acknowledged that conditions in the prison were “tough, though not inhuman”. But, he added: “We never tortured McCain. On the contrary, we saved his life, curing him with extremely valuable medicines that at times were not available to our own wounded.”
Shortly after his release in 1973 McCain told US News & World Report that his prison guards had beaten him “from pillar to post”. After being worked over at intervals for four days, he said, he had become suicidal and agreed to sign a “confession” admitting to war crimes.
Tran, who was in charge of the prison and is now 75 years old, said McCain reached Hanoi with the worst injuries he had seen in a downed pilot. But he denied torturing him, saying it was his mission to ensure that McCain survived. As the son of the US naval commander in Vietnam, he offered a potential valuable propaganda weapon.
Tran also said that McCain was sent to the hospital the day after he was brought to Hanoi and stayed there for a month. Tran said, “I never lost him from sight. I was frightened a doctor or nurse might do him harm.”
I don’t know about you but what does a 75 year old Vietnamese prison guard have any reason to lie? I think this guy’s telling the truth. Again, I’m not saying that it must’ve been a picnic being in prison during the Vietnam War but to make stories about how you were mistreated just doesn’t seem right. Even some of John McCain’s old prison buddies have questions and doubts about letting John McCain having the privilege to be the next commander in chief.
Stories like this just goes to show you how it seems every politician will lie and will say anything just to be elected. Now, if you wanna talk about Barack Obama and some of his lies, do you have a few hours?
