Black Friday Boom Or Bust?
What do you think will happen this Black Friday, will it be a boom or bust? Will we see shoppers trampled on like we have in past. When the American public was high on easy credit?
With the Great Recession already into it’s third year many retailers are pushing discounts to unload most of their stock. Some retailers are not even waiting until the turkey gets cold, they are opening their doors on Thanksgiving. Talk about desperation or is it nervous jitters I sense.
Clearly these are horrible economic times no matter what kind of happy face the news media tries to put on the topic. Let’s see, true unemployment is over 20%, a record number of American’s, over 40 million, are on food stamps and the real estate markets are at worst levels than the great depression with no bottom in sight.
Think about the food stamps for a second. One little fact they don’t tell anyone on the news is that in order to qualify and receive food stamps you can’t have any savings in the bank. That’s over 40 million without a penny in the bank and that 40 million actually is a lot more than 40 million. The people receiving the benefits are heads of households with multiple members, so you can just imagine how many more the numbers actually represent.
I can go on and on listing one horrible economic indicator at a time but we already know things are bad. Not only for the shoppers but for the retailers as well. That being said, the retailers are pushing some great bargains starting this Black Friday. I wonder if it will work and what will happen after the Holidays are over?

Gerri Poremski – Me and my family are so pumped up about this particular season’s black friday sales events. Actually, am I nuts for doing this? I actually decided to go out and purchased a new outfit to put on exclusively for black friday. I would like to be comfy for all the hurrying around! Lmao
